The "AddSolution" task failed unexpectedly

description

Installed STSDev 2008 V2 on Windows Server 2008 x64 with Visual Studio 2008 and MOSS 2007.

Created a new project from the web part template.

When building against the DebugBuild target for the first time, I get the following error:

Assembly - Type Node Mismatch
Assembly WebPartProject1.CustomWebPart1, WebPartProject1 is not the current assembly.
Would you like to update this webpart files with the current assembly information?

Clicking yes resolves the issue, but this dialog box is annoying...

When building against the DebugDeploy or the DebugInstall target I get the following error:

Error 1
The "AddSolution" task failed unexpectedly.
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at MicroLink.StsDev2008AddIn.BuildTasks.AddSolution.Execute()
at Microsoft.Build.BuildEngine.TaskEngine.ExecuteInstantiatedTask(EngineProxy engineProxy, ItemBucket bucket, TaskExecutionMode howToExecuteTask, ITask task, Boolean& taskResult) WebPartProject3

This error makes STSDev 2008 unusable.

Please advise, thanks in advance.

I'm stuck with the same error. Is there a work around or resolution for this?

Thanks

Running the stsadm commands manually provides more detailed output, which informed me of some problems with my solution. Even after resolving those problems I still had the same error message above so I ended up deploying using stsadm commands, which ran fine after resolving my problems.
